When Love Looks Like Jesus

I think a big struggle among Christians is that we love each other like enemies instead of brothers.

If we didn't turn our back on those that stumble,
Maybe they wouldn't fall so hard.

If we didn't desire our own success first,
Maybe no one would come in second place.

If we didn't forsake what is right for what is desirable,
Maybe we wouldn't be blinded to the suffering of those around us.

If we didn't disregard the well being of other people,
Maybe we wouldn't be so consumed by selfishness.

But if we loved like Jesus.
Oh, if we lived like Jesus.

We would walk into darkness,
Just to bring a friend out of it.

We would put others first,
Because that is how He loved.

We would love like brothers,
And live like we all matter.

We would do what's right,
And see the fruit in how we relate to the ones we love.

We would be the Love of God to everyone we know.

And then,
Maybe, the real enemy would die.

"So now I am giving you a new commandment: love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." John 13:34-35
